Dinosaur Toys Are Once Again Roaming Toyshop Shelves And Hiding Under Children’s Beds

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Peter Legrove 65 million years ago dinosaurs ruled the world, now they are back… Roboraptors stalking the cat and plastic brontosauruses watching the goldfish. Woodcut Tyrannosaurus Rexes running down a 3d triceratops while a pack of velociraptors close in for the kill. These are the dinosaurs of today. Beautifully crafted masterpieces that never grow old just. They just end up discarded and forgotten, to be replaced by a later model. Now, dinosaurs are everywhere, on T-shirts, under the kids bed and on the walls as giant posters. For the jigsaw puzzler there are any number of beautiful dinosaur pictures to be painstakingly put back together. In either wood or cardboard. Dinosaurs have reemerged from their extinction. They were lying dormant in the backs of our minds until 1993. This was the year the classic movie Jurassic Park woke us up, creating Dinosaur mania that changed the world of dinosaurs forever. Dinosaurs were now back in vogue. It only took to the third movie, and then in that movie the kid was playing with little plastic dinosaurs. Actually they were the same ones I had brought for my kid. Excellent dinosaurs, realistic little things, good for the sand pit. Virtually indestructible except the paint fades. Now, there is a new species of dinosaur competing with the electronic world for the kids affection and attention. Roborapter is the latest in this range. A beautiful sleek-looking creature in black or white. A cross between a futuristic robot and a 65 million year old carnivore that can stalk across your living room floor. Another futuristic creature look-a-like that is slightly innovative is Legos latest Wild Hunters. Something that resembles the world of tomorrow here today. Our renewed love affair with dinosaurs has turned them from meat eating beasts to loveable soft toys for baby to sleep on. Something that has been extinct for 65 million years has revived our interest in what life was like for our ancestors. We have the Imaginext series; Thunder the Brontosaurus and Razor the T-Rex plus a few others, all complete with saddles and other accessories. These dinosaurs with little action jockey cave men figures are all ready to race through the primeval forest. They come complete with batteries so they can roar and a good crank on the tail sends their heads and arms shaking. These beautifully colored, realistically looking, moving and roaring dinosaurs have invaded our living rooms. Now they hide on the sofa and behind cushions to jump out at unsuspecting travelers that are bold enough to venture out onto the sofa in broad daylight. Another series that changes history is the B.C. Toys Little Tikes series of dinosaur demolition machines, similar to the cartoon dinosaurs in the Fred Flintstone TV show from more than a few years ago. The quarry will never be the same, and the sand pit just got better to play in. Here we have a Triceratops Dump Truck complete with little rocks to dump, as well as an Apatosaurus Wreaking Ball with a tower to knock down. There are more demolition dinos in the series to recreate the wrecking world of the very distant past. These amazing, fully articulated dinos are able to make greeting and working sounds while the kids play make believe in the sand pit. Some even have wheels on their feet so they can move around. The range of dinosaur toys is getting more and more imaginative. Meaning the kids just love them more and hopefully will play with them a bit longer.Kids these days are lucky. I never had anything like that when I was growing up. And back then I loved dinosaurs. Toyman, Peter Puzzler, I love toys and puzzles and animals and dinosaurs and bugs. I have kids of my own so I am always on the lookout for the latest and greatest in toys This article is copyright Peter Legrove 2006 at http://www.animalsdinosaursandbugs.comOur website specializes in toys, puzzles and games that have an animal, dinosaur or insect theme. Efficiency of Laser Hair Removal

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Mary Scott Laser hair removal is appropriate for any area where there is unwanted hair, with the exception of inside the ears, nose, or arch of eyebrows. The lasers works on all follicles in their active growth phase meaning that any follicles in the active growth phase that are treated are gone for good. Large areas such as the back, the arms and the legs are just as easily treated as smaller areas such as the upper lip and the bikini line. Laser hair removal is efficient. Its a long-lasting method that removes unwanted hair and saves individuals time and energy previously devoted to other methods. Who wouldnt want to skip shaving every other day? Especially during bikini season, when the last thing a man or a woman wants to worry about is unattractive body hair. Compare Other Methods of Hair Removal Other methods of hair removal include:ShavingDepilatoriesEpilation-TweezingWaxingThreadingElectrolysis Shaving is the most frequently chosen option for men and women when it comes to removing unwanted hair. Men may purchase an electric shaver to manage light growth and a bladed razor to handle darker, heavier stubble. For women, the same can be said. In the Western world, the most popular areas for shaving are the face for men and the legs and underarms for women. Depilatories are creams that have foul odor, but work at dissolving the hair in the follicle. Epilation-tweezing is painful, slow and may actually cause ingrown hairs. It requires waiting for outgrowth in order to continue plucking. Epilation can last for a few weeks, but is still only a temporary solution. Waxing is very painful and can cause irritation. For waxing to be effective, you need a great deal of hair growth. Rolling the wax on and pulling it off can be very painful. There can be skin discoloration from waxing and when hair growth returns, you have to let it grow out before you can repeat a waxing. Threading is a process that requires twisting the hair to pull it out. Its as painful as it sounds and can cause issues like irritation, folliculitis, ingrown hairs and pigmentation changes. Finally, electrolysis is another painful process that requires inserting a needle into the skin and running an electric current in order to destroy the roots in the hair shaft. The hair itself can then be tweezed and pulled out. More Effective Than Temporary Methods All of these methods are temporary, lasting a few months at best. The more painful procedures have some negative side effects. Laser hair removal is a far longer lasting and far less painful than these other methods. Lasers work efficiently, which can be of real value to men and women who want to remove their unwanted hair without repetitive painful procedures. There are many different lasers and methods out there that are effective, comfortable, safe and fast for removing unwanted hair. Discover the freedoms that laser hair removal provides for individuals every single day: the freedom from unwanted hair, the freedom from temporary hair removal methods and the freedom from pain and constant expense. American Laser Hair Removal provides professional laser hair removal services performed by specially trained staff for a painless, long lasting hair removal solution. Did The Devil Really Make You Do It?

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

By William Bell, Jr. Have you ever wondered about some act or behavior in which you engaged and said, “The devil made me do it?” Why do many people blame Satan for their shortcomings? Why does the devil wind up taking the blame for the things some people do, especially in our time? Perhaps it is due to ignorance of the devils limited power. Satan surely had delegated authority to afflict man, (Job 1:12), as does any created free-will being, including man himself. He simply made a career of it as some men do. However, when Satan was active, man could resist him under most circumstances, (James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:9). One of his principal weapons was deception. If he could deceive man into believing falsehood, he didnt need to do much else to accomplish his wicked ends. He knew man, being deceived would efficiently and effectively take care of all the details. Something Changed The devil is no longer tormenting the world with his diabolical schemes. His presence in the world ended centuries ago. His demise along with his minions was foretold in the Scriptures. As the time closed in on him, even he knew that his time was short. (Revelation 12:10) As to the predictions for his demise, Jesus saw Satan falling from heaven swiftly as lightening, (Luke 10:18). This did not mean that Satan was literally in heaven. To the contrary, it meant that he would swiftly fall from his own place of authority and dominion. The same language is used of the city of Capernaum who refused to repent at Jesus message. “And you Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day,” (Matthew 11:23; Luke 10:15). Likewise, Satan would be defeated, fall from his place of power and be cast into the lake of fire. Satans Power Strengthened Through the Old Covenant Satan’s power was strengthened through the Old Covenant because it could not take away sin, (Hebrews 10:4). Thus, it was his purpose to accuse the saints of the Old Covenant before God and demand their condemnation, (Zechariah 3:1-5). God promised a New Covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, in which he would be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds he would no longer remember. (Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 8:12, 13). Thus the New Covenant rendered the Old Covenant obsolete with the latter vanishing. Satan could no longer accuse brethren because of sin. John who alludes to Satan as the accuser of our brethren who accused them before our God day and night, saw his remaining time as short. The devil, knowing that his defeat was imminent attempted a last ditch effort to destroy the church. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time, (Revelation 12:12) Paul Predicts Satans Imminent Defeat Satans defeat came swiftly. Paul wrote, The Lord God shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly, (Romans 16:20). The message of the gospels, the epistles and Revelation all saw Satans imminent demise. Through death, Jesus dealt a death blow to Satan, (Hebrews 2:14). Jesus could not be held by death, –the enemy Satan used to keep man enslaved to a destiny of destruction. Jesus’ defeat of death and subsequent resurrection allows Him to reign at Gods right hand. Likewise, he empowers saints to reign by dying and rising with him through baptism and entrance into a new life in Him, (Romans 6:3, 4; Ephesians 1:3). Being raised from the dead, they now live in righteousness forgiven by God through the power of the life of Jesus Christ. Johns Revelation message speaks of events shortly to come to pass, (Revelation 1:1, 3; 12:10; 22:6, 10, 12). Thus Satans defeat and ultimate end of being cast into the lake of fire happened within a short time after John wrote the book. There is no devil to torment and accuse man today. Satans defeat and demise occurred almost 2000 years ago. Jesus and righteousness now reign forever. Evil exists in the world today, because men of their own choice choose evil. They have no one to blame but themselves. The ultimate evil is to choose disobedience. Those who do so will follow Satan to the lake of fire. Love in 2007: A New Year’s Resolution for Your Relationship

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Jean MacKenzie With the New Year upon us it is time again to think about makingresolutions. Unfortunately more than a few people have given up on NewYear’s resolutions after one or more good intentions went awry. Yousee it takes more than enthusiasm and grand aspirations to keep a NewYear’s resolution. However, New Year’s resolutions are good things. Striving to be abetter person is always an admirable idea. But, I’ve got an evenbetter idea. If you are married or dating than why not make aresolution as a couple to improve your relationship? But, you say,we’re back to the original problem. How do we make sure we willfollow through with our resolution? Well, one frequently recommendedway of keeping your New Year’s resolution is to pair up with a friendwho will help motivate you. If you work with your spouse towards amutual resolution then you will inherently have someone to support youand motivate you towards achieving your goal. Here are some other tips to help you accomplish your relationship goals and develop a more intimate relationship in 2007: 1. Be realistic You will only discourage yourself if you make resolutions thatyou can never achieve. If you’ve never taken a dance lessonbefore than it would be unrealistic to set a goal of winning a national dance competition. However, if you would both like to learnto dance then you may want to set a goal of being able to strutyour stuff and the New Year’s eve ball 2007. 2. Describe your resolutions in specific terms Instead of “We want to create more romance in our marriage,”opt for “We will set aside time for a date once a week.” or “We willset aside 15 minutes each day to talk with each other withoutdistractions such as children, telephones, or television.” 3. Create a Plan In order to be able to follow through on your resolution you must worktogether to determine what steps will lead you to your goal. Forinstance if you resolve to eliminate a major debt than you will need todetermine how you are going to go about it. Will you read a book onfinancial management, hire a financial planner, will one of you take onan extra job, or will you look for ways to reduce your spending. Whatsteps are require to reach your goal and when will each step beaccomplished? 4. Write Down Your Resolution and Plan Commit your resolution and plan to writing and review themoften. Writing down your goals will keep you focused on them andwill thus make you more likely to achieve them. 5. Remain Flexible Don’t let obstacles, even a momentary lapse in motivation, discourage you from following through. Be prepared to adaptyour plan as needed. If you plan on talking daily and you get off track start over again. If you plan on a date night on a particularnight of the week and some other event crops up on that eveningthan revisit your plan and find another time slot. If you are trying to pay off debt and a major repair comes up regroup and adjustyour goals accordingly. If you find your steps are more difficultthan you anticipated then reassess your plan and create simplersteps. Remember, great things don’t happen over night. So, whether your resolution is as simple as adding more affection toyour relationship or as grand as going on a second honeymoon I hopethese tips will help you to reach your goals and create a stronger andmore loving relationship in 2007. The Appeal of Computerized Dating

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By Richard Akindele Our world is getting increasingly busier, and we are invariably becoming dependent on computers and the Internet. Every conceivable aspect of our lives is now computerized in some manner. With the amount of time we spend on computers, it’s a forgone conclusion that this medium has become a magnet for people looking for love. Not too long ago, you had to go against the grain to have a profile on a dating website. Today, the stigma is gone. Online personals has gone mainstream and now accepted by all and sundry. The appeal of dating online can be attributed to the fact that one can communicate with people ranging from a next door neighbor you didn’t know was looking, to people living thousands of miles away. Sometimes the bee has to travel deep into the woods to find the sweetest nectar. In that regard, only online dating puts you in close proximity with remote users all in one place. Online dating has also become an oyster for the shy. While some are naturally blessed with confidence, that first approach is a nightmare for the shy among us. Meeting people in real life is almost ritualistic where the male puts on a show for the female he’s interested in. In that atmosphere, only certain pronounced ( mostly shallow ) characteristics enjoy any level of success, leaving the timid behind. Dating online is changing things however. Generally, by the time online friends decide to meet in person, they’ve already broken the ice, personal characteristics have been scrutinized with discerning eyes, and they likely have both established a comfort zone. This more or less levels the playing field, particularly giving the shy a fighting chance. You are less likely to be rejected at a first meeting, if you’ve already been talking to the person online for sometime. Be it as it may that there are time-wasters online, nobody can argue with the fact that traditional dating methods cannot hold a candle to finding singles online in terms of the number of hookups. Online dating has become a major force in our lives as we search for that elusive needle in a haystack in our technologically-driven world. This trend is likely to grow in popularity as more and more people come online. Richard Akindele is the Founder of http://www.oasisoflove.com, a full-featured, and FREE online dating site. How to Afford Liposuction

Monday, July 16th, 2007

By Tara Pingle Liposuction is usually an elective cosmetic surgery procedure, which means it is not generally covered by insurance policies. Liposuction is a wonderful solution for both men and women who have areas of fat on their body that are resistant to diet and exercise. Liposuction is not a weight loss solution, however, and should be used to contour the body, not lose weight. Also, when choosing whether or not to have a liposuction, it is important to choose a surgeon and facility based on credentials, experience, and results, rather than price. All too often, people choose the cheapest plastic surgeon to perform their liposuction, and unfortunately many times, you see it in the results. Be wary of plastic surgeons offering unbelievably low prices for liposuction, as it may reflect on the quality of liposuction you receive. Also, look out for plastic surgeons offering very cheap deals on liposuction for committing to the procedure that day. Liposuction is a very personal decision, and the procedure varies from person to person. The cost of your liposuction can vary depending on the amount of fat being removed and the number of different places being treated. The best way to determine how you are going to finance your liposuction procedure is to schedule an initial consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon. If you would like to learn more information about liposuction, feel free to contact Dr. Adrian Lo in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Wonderful Art of Bonsai

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By Jay Smith The potential for enjoyment of Bonsai trees is enormous. These are the dwarf-sized trees that have been developed in the Asian countries of China and Japan for many hundreds of years. Most people have to go out to a forest to experience the marvelous plants that we call trees. But in the hands of a master Bonsai creator, the beautiful trees can be reduced in size to the point where they can be brought indoors to be enjoyed at any time. And the person who learns this age-old art so that he or she learns how to create this small piece of beauty experiences even more of a thrill — something closely akin to producing a child, but with the added advantage of being able to shape and design it themselves. And these trees grow more beautiful with age. Some renowned trees are as old as five hundred years or more. Naturally, they need nurturing and care, just as any prized possession does, especially things that are living and developing, in the same way a child develops. But the care that is needed is not difficult, though it may require some time and some special equipment (not overly-expensive). And, of course, these beautiful trees can be purchased at any Bonsai nursery. Usually it never enters the head of the admirer of Bonsai that they have the potential of creating them on their own. Becoming a member of any local Bonsai Club (they’re virtually everywhere) will provide all the support and direction a person might require. It’s exciting to sit in front of one of these miniature trees and realize that this tiny tree in its tiny pot might otherwise be growing tall in some forest somewhere. And you can pick it up, turn it, and see all sides of it without leaving your chair. They truly are a marvel, these Bonsai trees. The word Bonsai itself means “tree in a pot.” And there is not just a single species of tree that is adaptable to your particular area. There are hundreds — even species that would normally not be considered a tree, such as shrubs, bushes and even plants like roses and many herb species. But, no matter what kind of plant you may have in your pot, it’s always called a “tree” in Bonsai language. I was fortunate enough to have been able to study with the great master, John Naka, also addressed as “Sensei” (master teacher). Sadly, Sensei Naka left us a few years ago, and has been greatly missed by all who knew him and knew of him. He wrote the consummate manual on the subject of Bonsai, which was his true passion. He traveled all over the world to teach and judge competitions and he loved every minute of it. He made his home in Southern California, but the world was truly his, gaining enormous respect wherever he traveled. If you’re thinking of creating or buying a Bonsai tree, you must bear one thing in mind at all times — these are living things, and do require care and even love. You can’t go away on vacation for a week or two and expect to find your tree alive when you return — unless you’ve wisely made arrangements to have someone take care of your tree for you. And that person must know intimately the requirements of the tree. A trusted neighbor who, upon seeing the tree for the first time, says, “Oh, isn’t that cute?” is not the person to entrust your tree with. The principle tree for a beginner to start with is the Japanese Black Pine (pinus thunbergii), primarily because its the easiest to grow and work with, and also that it’s available in most areas and climates. It can be grown anywhere in the U.S. and most of North America. It’s extremely hardy and adaptable to even adverse weather conditions and makes a superb-looking Bonsai tree. If youre looking for a new adventure and hobby, I believe youll be happy and contented with your own Bonsai trees. Its an especially good interest for people who are home-bound, and who need something to make them feel vibrant and needed, and to give them continuing joy.
